At Easter, every brand reaches for the same chocolate egg. YO! Sushi and KitKat wanted the opposite, so we launched a Japanese spring instead.
Easter is the egg's biggest week. YO! Sushi and KitKat wanted in, without making one.
The brief was a paid-social launch for a YO! Sushi × KitKat Easter dessert. The trap came with it: at Easter, every brand makes the same thing, in the same shape, wrapped in the same foil. Blend in, and a collaboration this good simply disappears.
So we didn't make an egg. We built the launch around the one thing the two brands share (Japan) and reframed Easter as a Japanese spring: cherry blossom, a red-to-gold sunrise, and a 本物 (“the real thing”) motif running through the frame. Not another egg on the shelf, but the hero of the season.
Easter 2026 · fifteen seconds, paid social
Easter's visual language is five centuries of the same egg. Breaking from it wasn't the risk. It was the entire point of a YO! × KitKat launch.
We leaned into what both brands already own in Japan: hanami, blossom, and the red-and-gold of a spring sunrise. The dessert an egg could never be.
