IRIS filming a live car review on the Motability Scheme Live show floor: two operators shooting a presenter with a new SUV

LIVE. NO DROPOUT

A two-day live stream from the show floor: reviews, cars and the Scheme itself, captured wirelessly and cut live in our on-site gallery. Captioned and signed, start to finish.

Motability didn't want a highlights reel after the event. They wanted the event, live.

So we built them a broadcast. Across both days of Motability Scheme Live we ran a live stream from the show floor (ten in the morning to four in the afternoon, breaking only for lunch), mixing product and car reviews with the information people came for about the Scheme itself. We helped shape the content and built the running order with the client before a single camera rolled.

On the day, every camera fed back to our gallery wirelessly (a network we set up across the hall and held with no dropout), where the show was cut, captioned and signed, and sent out live. Thirty-plus crew, one continuous programme, two days running.

The gallery

Beamed back to the gallery

No cables snaking across a public show floor. Every camera captured wirelessly and beamed its feed back to the gallery we built on site, where the show was vision-mixed, cut and pushed out live.

The hard part isn't the kit; it's holding a clean signal all day in a hall full of people, metal and interference. We built the wireless infrastructure for exactly that, and across two days, it didn't drop once.

The build

A stage, and two big screens

The programme needed a home in the room. We built a stage structure into the hall with two large LED screens: a set for the presenters and the reviews, and a live canvas for the graphics, the schedule and the content going out on the stream.

Somewhere for the audience to sit, and something for the broadcast to point at, built to hold a full day of live programming.

Access

Everyone in the room, included

This is a Motability audience: accessibility isn't a nice-to-have, it's the whole point. So the live output carried British Sign Language and live captions, added on site as it went out.

Not bolted on afterwards for a re-upload. Signed and captioned live, in the room and on the stream, for the whole run.
